Privacy notice
What we hold, why we hold it, who else sees it, and how to have it removed. Written to be read rather than skimmed past.
Who is responsible for your data
Somethinger is run by Reallyquite Ltd. Two different relationships apply, and which one you're in changes who decides what happens to your data.
- Your account โ your email address, name and sign-in details. We decide how these are used, so we are the data controller.
- Your league or club's records โ team rosters, fixtures, results, subs. The league or club decides what goes in and who can see it; we store and process it on their instructions. They are the controller and we are their processor. If you want a team record changed, your league is the right place to ask, and we'll act on what they tell us.
What we store
| What | Why |
|---|---|
| Email address, display name, password (hashed) โ or a Google sign-in | To let you sign in and to send you things you've asked for, like fixture changes |
| Your teams, roles and the leagues you belong to | To show you the right things and let captains and admins do their jobs |
| Player names on team rosters | To produce fixtures, results, tables and player statistics |
| Match results and per-game records | The league's competitive record โ tables, statistics and ratings |
| Payment records โ amount, date, status, and Stripe's reference | So a league can see who has paid. We never see or store card numbers |
| Emails we've sent you, and whether they were delivered | So "did they get it?" is answerable, and so unsubscribes are honoured |
People who never signed up
This deserves saying plainly. A captain can add a player to a roster by name, and a league can import its historic records โ so you may appear here without ever having created an account. That is how a league keeps its records, and it is the league's decision, not ours.
If that's you: your name may appear on public pages showing which matches you played and how you did, in the same way it would on a printed fixture card or a results board. We only hold an email address for you if your captain added one. You can ask to be removed โ see below โ and we will act on it.
Public pages
League pages are public by design: tables, fixtures, results, and player statistics can be read by anyone without signing in. That's the point of them. Player names appear there. Email addresses, payment records and contact details never do.
Who else your data reaches
We use a small number of companies to run the service. We don't sell data to anyone, and we don't use it for advertising.
- Supabase โ the database and sign-in system. Hosted in the UK/EU.
- Cloudflare โ serves the website.
- Stripe โ takes card payments. Card details go straight to Stripe and never touch our systems. When your league takes a payment, Stripe is also handling that money on the league's behalf.
- Resend โ sends our email.
- Google โ only if you choose to sign in with Google, and only to confirm who you are.
How long we keep it
League records โ fixtures, results, statistics โ are kept for as long as the league wants them, because a league's history is the point of keeping it. Payment records are kept for six years, as tax rules require. Your account is kept until you delete it. Delivery logs for email are kept for two years.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask for a copy of what we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, ask for it to be deleted, or object to how it's used. Email privacy@somethinger.com and we'll respond within one month.
One honest limit: where a league is the controller, deleting a result that's part of a completed season affects other people's records too. We'll always remove personal contact details on request. Removing a name from a historic result is a decision for the league, and we'll pass it on and act on their answer.
If you're unhappy with how we've handled it, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
